HOTEL CATALONIA BERNA |
Hotel description Located in the heart of Barcelona, close to Passeig de Gràcia and only a few minutes away from Plaza Catalunya and the city´s old quarter. The hotel is situated in one of the first residential buildings built in Barcelona´s Eixample district by Catalan architect Josep Cerdà. Built in 1864 in an eclectic style of classical inspiration, it has been classified as a historic monument. It is the only building that still retains the splendid paintings and ornaments of the original façade, which has been totally renovated. The hotel is furnished in a modern and elegant style. It has 124 rooms equipped with all comforts and amenities: parquet flooring and wooden furniture, air conditioning, heating, satellite TV, direct dial telephone, safe-deposit box and fully equipped marble bathroom with direct dial telephone and hair dryer. The hotel services include a bar and cafeteria, a restaurant with large picture windows and 6 conference rooms with a capacity of up to 330 people. There is a car park inside and two panoramic lifts. |
Places of interest nearby You can start the day by taking a stroll along Barcelona´s most famous avenue: las Ramblas. On your way down you will see, among other things, the fountain of Canaletes, a typical venue for fans of Football Club Barcelona, the Poliorama Theatre, a splendid example of Modernist style, the Palau de la Virreina, the Liceu Opera and the Museu de la Cera (Wax Museum). At the end of the Ramblas stands the Columbus Monument. From there, you can take a cable car to the mountain of Montjuïc, where you can visit the Castle, the Olympic Ring or the quaint Poble Espanyol (Spanish Village). Once evening falls, make sure you stay near the Magical Fountain, where the water jets are lit to create a show with lights and music. |
